Privacy Policy
The short version
Neither the website nor the apps have accounts, advertising or behavioural tracking, and neither asks you for any personal information. The apps keep your learning progress on your device and never send anything anywhere (section 5). The website sets no cookies and stores nothing you type; it keeps only anonymous, aggregate visit counts so we can show funders and the community that the site is used.
1. What we do not collect
- No accounts, sign-ins or profiles.
- No cookies, fingerprinting or cross-site tracking. A few conveniences are kept only in your own browser's local storage — your theme choice, an optional display name, your place in the games, and which entries you have met and when they are due for review — and are never sent to us. Clearing your browser data clears them.
- No advertising, and no data shared with advertisers.
- No forms: nothing you type on this site is sent to us or stored.
2. Aggregate visit counts
We use a cookieless analytics service (Cloudflare Web Analytics) to count page views. It records aggregate information such as which pages were viewed, the referring site, and approximate country, and it does not use cookies or identify individual visitors. We use these counts only to understand reach and to report it to funders and partners.
3. Hosting and server logs
The site is served by a hosting provider (Vercel). Like any web host, it receives the technical information your browser sends with each request — such as your IP address, browser type and the page requested — and may keep short-term logs of that information for security and to keep the service running. We do not use these logs to identify or track visitors.
4. Fonts and third-party requests
Fonts are served from this site itself. Your browser does not contact a third-party font service when you view a page here. The only third-party requests are those described in sections 2 and 3.
5. The apps
The TriniKwéyòl apps for iPhone and iPad and for Android work entirely on your device. They have no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no crash reporting, and they never send anything anywhere. The Android app does not even request internet access.
What the apps store on your device: your learning progress — streak, XP, daily goal, review schedule, completed units, the cultural cards you have unlocked — together with an optional display name and your reminder preference. This stays in the app's private storage on the device and is never uploaded. Deleting the app deletes it.
Daily reminder: if you turn the reminder on, the app asks the system for notification permission and schedules one local notification a day. Nothing leaves the device. You can turn it off in the app's settings or in the device's notification settings at any time.
Sharing: when you share a proverb card, the app hands the text you chose to the system share sheet and nothing else; where it goes is up to you.
Links to this website: the apps' settings link to this policy and to the terms. Following one opens your device's web browser, which then visits this website as described in sections 2 and 3. The app itself sends nothing.
Age: the apps are intended for adults (18 and over). This website collects no personal information from anyone, of any age.
6. Changes to this policy
We will update this policy when the website or the apps change in a way that affects your privacy — for example, if we add a lookup feature that stores anonymous search queries, or if the apps introduce accounts. The version and effective date at the top of this page will change, and the previous version will remain available on request.
