Spelling convention
Kwéyòl on this site is displayed exactly as recorded in its source. The project's spelling reference is the 2001 Kwéyòl Dictionary (SIL International / St. Lucia Ministry of Education) — the written standard the wider community is adopting. Where Paramin usage differs (for example the spelling ⟨tj⟩), the project follows the validator's published book and the official UWI alphabet poster.
Advisor

About the language
Trinidadian French Creole (Patois / Patwa / Kwéyòl) is a critically endangered French-lexifier creole. Its speaker base is small and ageing, and intergenerational transmission is at risk. It is distinct from Haitian Creole and from the related creoles of St. Lucia and Dominica.Read more about the language.
